Adamu and Mohammed Atiku
Ahead of the 2027 general elections, two sons of the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, have indicated their intentions to contest different National Assembly seats in Adamawa state.
One of the sons, a former Commissioner of Works and Energy Development in the Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s government and eldest son of Atiku’s family, Adamu Atiku is said to be eyeing the Adamawa South senatorial district seat, while Mohammed Atiku Abubakar who is a business tycoon is working to be a member of the House of Representative representing Jada/Mayo-Belwa/Ganye/Toungo federal constituency.
The two brothers are set to contest under the African Democratic party, ADC, the same party the former VP wants to contest the presidency.
Confirming the development, state chairman of the ADC, Shehu Yohanna told Daily Trust in Yola that the party welcomes the two brothers in the party with open hands and will be given all necessary support and cooperation as all members of the party.
Yohanna said that Adamu Atiku who resigned from the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has since registered with the ADC at his ward in Jada local government area and would be contesting for the senatorial seat of his zone (Southern) .
Yohanna also stated that Mohammed Atiku Abubakar has also registered long before now and would be contesting for the seat of member of house representative representing Jada, Ganye, Mayo-belwa and Toungo federal constituency in the forthcoming national elections in 2027.
He noted that the duo, as Nigerians have the constitutional rights to vie for any political position of their choice adding that they would be giving necessary support to achieve their aspirations. (Daily Trust)
