Federal Fire Service FFS
By KELECHI OGUNLEYE
The Federal Fire Service (FFS), FCT Command, has urged residents to call its emergency contact number; 08032003557, for fire and rescue services as Muslims celebrate Eid-el-Fitr.
This is contained in a statement by the command’s Spokesperson, Barnabas Anyam, on Thursday in Abuja.
Anyam said that the FCT Controller of the Service, Muhammed Anas, advised residents to always have the phone number handy in case of fire or any other emergency.
Anas also assured of the command’s preparedness to respond to any emergency during the Sallah celebration.
He directed all station commanders to ensure that their men remained fully on ground to respond to emergencies that may arose in any part of the territory.
He also directed them to ensure that their fire trucks and other equipment were in good condition.
The controller reiterated that the FFS as an essential service providing organisation, does not go on holidays as such there won’t be any excuse of absenteeism of firefighters.
He advised residents to be safety-conscious during the festive period as many fire-triggering activities occur during the period.
Anas also advised residents to observe basic fire safety compliance, such as turning off electrical equipment when leaving the house, not leaving cooking unattended, and avoiding fireworks among others.
He further wished all Muslim faithful a happy Eid al-Fitr, while congratulating them on the end of Ramadan. (NAN)
