A non-governmental organisation, Lifeshare Foundation, has empowered 320 vulnerable and underprivileged children across the Federal Capital Territory and Nasarawa State through a talent hunt and humanitarian outreach.

Going beyond its regular outreach of providing essential supplies to orphanage homes, the foundation introduced a unique Talent Hunt Initiative designed to discover and nurture the abilities of children living in orphanages.

Speaking at the event, the founders of the foundation, Mr Kayode Alonge, encouraged the children to believe in themselves and their abilities.

Alonge said children matter and that no one should make them feel otherwise, emphasising that each child has a bright future ahead.

The talent hunt featured categories in dancing, singing, comedy and martial arts with seasoned professionals from each industry. A total of 320 children participated in the event, excluding their chaperones.

The foundation ensured that every participating orphanage received essential supplies, including bags of rice, cartons of noodles, cooking oil, toiletries and other food items.

To cater to the wellbeing of the children, the Foundation also provided free medical checkups, with healthcare professionals on ground to offer testing and medical support where needed. A playground area was made available, ensuring the children enjoyed a wholesome and fun-filled experience.

Winners of the talent hunt received cash prizes of ₦300,000 for first place, ₦200,000 for second place and ₦100,000 for third place.

The winners also expressed their joy and shared how the recognition and prize money have motivated them to keep developing their skills and trusting that their voices and talents will soon be seen and heard.

The first-place winners also noted that this was their first time participating in a talent competition, as they expressed deep appreciation to Lifeshare Foundation for its efforts and impact across FCT orphanages.

The founders used the opportunity to call on well-meaning Nigerians, corporate organisations and partners to support the foundation.

They emphasised their commitment to giving vulnerable children the same opportunities and exposure available to privileged children, noting that at Lifeshare Foundation, every act of care, no matter how small, truly counts. (Guardian)
