Evi’, a star-studded Afrobeats drama, is set for premiere in cinemas across Nigeria on March 27.
Bolaji Ajayi, promoter of the project, announced the release date in a statement on Tuesday.
According to him, the original soundtrack album of the highly anticipated film has been released on major digital streaming platforms in celebration of the Women’s History Month, ahead of the cinema debut.
He said the10 track album, led by a predominantly female creative team, was now available on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Audiomack, Boomplay, and other streaming platforms.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that ‘Evi’ tells the story of a woman’s journey through adversity towards redemption and self-discovery.
Its plot follows Evi-Oghene Donalds, a talented but arrogant Afrobeats singer struggling to rebuild her life, career, and reputation after her record label terminates her contract, forcing her to find redemption and self-discovery.
The film is produced by Judith Audu, and written and directed by Uyoyou Adia, featuring talented cast, including actress Osas Okonyonm who made her professional singing debut in the soundtrack.
Other cast include Uzor Arukwe, Omowunmi Dada, Ibrahim Suleiman, Waje Iruobe, Tomiwa Tegbe, and Femi Branch, amongst others.
The film’s soundtrack was produced by award-winning Nigerian music producer Tolu Obanro, known professionally as Tyanx, who blended the contributions of multiple artists into an Afrobeats-driven musical narrative.
Guest performers on the album include Abbey Wonder, Bukeh Ikang, also known as FBI, and Ariyiike Dimples.
The album combines Afrobeats rhythms with reflective tracks that explore perseverance, love, community and emotional growth.
Songs in the album include ‘Evi the Superstar’, ‘Brighter Day’, ‘Where Do I Go’, ‘Mirror’ and ‘All My Love’. (NAN)
