Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have uncovered an illegal firearm fabrication factory in Ika South Local Government Area, and arrester a 59-year-old suspect as part of intensified efforts to curb violent crime and the proliferation of illicit weapons in the state.
The suspect, Identified as Friday Ojei, was apprehended in the early hours of March 6, 2026, during a raid on a suspected gun-manufacturing depot in Emuhu Community.
Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Bright Edafe, said operatives of the Raiders Squad acted on credible intelligence before storming the location at about 5:00 a.m.
According to him, the operation was led by the Commander of the Raiders Squad, SP Akanya Agbogha.
Edafe disclosed that a search of the premises led to the recovery of four locally fabricated guns and equipment allegedly used for the production of firearms.
Items recovered from the facility include a welding machine, a drilling machine, a grinding machine and several metal pipes suspected to be used in the fabrication of guns.
“The team acted on credible intelligence and successfully raided a suspected firearm manufacturing depot in Emuhu Community, Ika South Local Government Area, leading to the arrest of the suspect,” Edafe said.
He added that the suspect is currently in police custody while investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other members of the suspected illegal firearm production network.
