Many shop owners across Kano kept their businesses closed on Friday following growing tension triggered by a viral video circulating on social media.

The video, which spread widely across different platforms, reportedly sparked fear among traders and residents, prompting many business owners to shut their shops as a precaution.

Commercial activities in several parts of the city were noticeably reduced, with markets and shopping areas recording low patronage as residents stayed indoors amid uncertainty surrounding the situation.

Some traders said they decided to keep their shops closed to avoid possible unrest, noting that rumours and misinformation linked to the viral clip had heightened anxiety in the area.
