A Nigerian music video producer and founder of Nouvelle Films, Femi Dapson, has joined the list of lovers who decided to go big on Valentine’s Day, after he displayed a public love message for his fiancée, Simisanya, on digital billboards in Lagos.
The Valentine gesture, which played out around the Lekki corridor, drew attention from motorists and passersby, while also sparking fresh reactions on social media as photos and videos of the display made the rounds online.
Dapson, who is popularly known as Uncle Dapson on X, revealed the surprise in multiple posts on Saturday, sharing clips of the billboard and explaining why he chose a public display instead of keeping it private.
He wrote, “Happy Valentine’s Day from me to my sweet baby @simisanya.”
Explaining the motivation behind the move, he added, “A private message wasn’t enough, I needed to shout it so everyone can see so here we go.”
Dapson also stated that the display would not just flash once and disappear, but would run through the day, giving people on the Lekki axis the chance to see it.
He wrote, “My message to you is on display the entire day on both sides of the billboards at Lekki phase 1 and Lekki phase 2.”
Photos and videos attached to the post showed the Valentine-themed digital billboard mounted along a busy road. The message was addressed directly to Simisanya and written as a love note, with red-themed graphics and Valentine designs.
The billboard message read, “TO MY SIMI, A PRIVATE MESSAGE WASN’T ENOUGH. I NEEDED TO SHOUT IT WHERE EVERYONE CAN SEE. I LOVE THIS WOMAN WITH EVERYTHING IN ME. THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING ME. THANK YOU FOR LOVING ME. I PROMISE TO SPEND THE REST OF MY LIFE MAKING YOU HAPPY. HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY, MY LOVE.”
As the post gained attention online, Simisanya also reacted publicly, describing the moment as unexpected and emotional.
She wrote, “When I saw this, I screamed! Didn’t see this coming, honestly. I love him soooooooo much. I love you, my baby!! You are amazing.”
For many social media users, the public declaration reflected the growing trend of extravagant Valentine gestures, where love messages now show up not only in chats and private dinners, but also on billboards, screens, and public spaces.
Beyond the Valentine moment, the couple’s relationship has also been in the public eye for a while, with Dapson and Simisanya sharing milestones that suggest they are building towards marriage.
They got engaged in July 2025 after Dapson proposed in an intimate setting. The relationship later moved into the family stage in November, following a family introduction that Dapson tagged as “1/4,” suggesting more wedding-related steps were ahead.
The lovers have also revealed that their wedding is scheduled to hold in March 2026, making the Valentine billboard surprise feel like part of a bigger countdown towards their big day. (The Guardian)
