The Police on Monday arraigned three men and one woman in a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos State, over alleged abortion and felony.
The defendants – Adewale Oloyede, 37; Mautin Kudoro, 23; Timileyin Ishola, 23; and Damilola Omojuomolo, 22, whose addresses were unknown, are charged with felony and unlawful abortion.
They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, ASP Edet Ekpo, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Jan. 22 at Heritage Global School of Health and Technology, Ibereko, Badagry, Lagos State.
Ekpo alleged that the defendants conspired among themselves to commit a felony and procure abortion.
“The defendants supplied one Damilola Omojuomolo misoprostol tablets meant for abortion to terminate her two-month pregnancy.
“The four defendants who are at Ajara Grammar Senior School unlawfully prevented a child from being born by killing the child.
“The offences contravened Sections 411,147 and 236 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos, 2015,” he said.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Nurudeen Layeni, granted each of the defendants N1 million bail with two sureties each in the like sum.
He said that one of the sureties must be a medical practitioner.
Layeni adjourned the case until Feb. 26, for mention. (NAN)
