The Sokoto State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development has suspended the entire management of Sokoto United Football Club for a period of three months, with immediate effect.
The suspension was announced in an official letter signed by the Director of Administration of the Ministry, Aminu S. Fada, and dated February 2, 2026.
According to the letter, the decision applies to all members of the club’s management and will remain in force for the full three-month duration.
“The Ministry of Youth and Sports Development hereby announces the suspension of the entire management of Sokoto United Football Club for a period of three (3) months, effective immediately,” the letter stated.
It added that the suspension would run strictly for the stipulated period, during which the Ministry would take over the running of the club.
“The suspension will run for the stipulated three-month period, during which the Ministry will assume full responsibility for overseeing and managing all affairs of the club, pending further directives,” the letter said.
Despite the decision, the Ministry acknowledged the contributions of the affected officials to the club over the years.
“The Ministry wishes to express its appreciation to all affected members of the management for their dedication and selfless services rendered to Sokoto United Football Club over the years,” the letter read.
The Ministry also assured that further information would be made available as the situation develops.
“Further updates will be communicated as developments unfold,” the statement concluded. (Arise News)
