A blast has occurred at Muna Garage along Maiduguri Ngamboru Ngala Road, Borno State.
Some reports put the casualty rate at dozens while PRNigeria newswire said only eight persons had been confirmed dead. “Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Nigerian Troops have moved to the scene. Eight people have been confirmed dead while 15 injured victims have been taken to hospitals within Maiduguri metropolis,” the report said.
“The spokesperson of National Emergency Managenent Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Abdulkadir said that only security agencies are authorised to give full details of the incident after initial investigations on the incident,” PRNigeria added.
It said that “suicide-bombing is suspected.”
Another report by Channels TV said that the explosion occurred few metres away from an unofficial Internally Displaced People’s camp, housing 16,000 people.
“Security operatives have cordoned off the area, while other residents are going on with their normal activities,” it said.
