The Katsina State Police Command has commenced a statewide enforcement operation targeting vehicles with covered, defaced, incomplete or missing number plates, as part of renewed efforts to enhance public safety and prevent criminal activities.

The operation, which began on Monday, follows a directive from the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, mandating heightened vigilance and proactive policing nationwide.

In a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the exercise is being carried out under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu.

According to the statement, vehicles without registration numbers, those displaying only one number plate, as well as vehicles using defaced or covered plates, will be impounded during the enforcement exercise.

The police explained that the initiative is aimed at ensuring strict compliance with traffic regulations and discouraging crimes often committed using vehicles with concealed identities.

To support the operation, the Commissioner of Police has approved the deployment of additional personnel and equipment to strengthen patrols, stop-and-search operations and surveillance across the state.

Motorists were advised to ensure their vehicles meet all legal requirements to avoid inconvenience, while officers involved in the exercise have been directed to conduct themselves in a courteous, civil and professional manner.

The command reiterated its commitment to the protection of lives and property and urged members of the public to remain law-abiding and cooperate with security personnel throughout the operation. (AriseNews TV)
