There was wild jubilation, especially among parents, when Governor Dauda Lawal presented certificates to 50 former students of the Crescent University, Abeokuta, who graduated nine years ago but had been unable to access their certificates due to outstanding fees.
A statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, said the affected students are on Zamfara state scholarship and had graduated nine years ago, but couldn’t access their certificates because previous administrations failed to settle their tuition fees.
Idris revealed that “The Crescent University refused to release the students’ results due to nonpayment of tuition fees.
The state government under Governor Dauda Lawal, after carefully examining the case, contacted the university and settled the outstanding tuition fees.
“Among the 50 students, there is a First-Class graduate in Chemistry and several Second-Class Upper degree holders.
This gesture demonstrates the state government’s dedication to the education sector and clearly indicates that the state of emergency declared is producing positive outcomes. (Leadership)
