Singer Portable real name Habeeb Okikiola
Nigerian musician Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has sparked concern among fans and social media users after posting a plea for divine protection.
In the post on his Instagram story on Sunday, the controversial singer wrote, “God save me, don’t let me die young because of my wife and kids… God don’t let them suffer.”
Portable’s legal troubles began following a report by actress and content creator Ashabi Simple, with whom the singer shares a child.
Portable was arrested by the Ogun State Police Command following allegations of domestic violence involving Ashabi Simple.
According to reports, the incident stemmed from a heated argument over Ashabi’s status in Portable’s life, after she allegedly demanded to be recognised as a wife rather than a baby mama.
The singer was said to have insisted that only his legally married wife, Bewaji, holds that position.
The disagreement allegedly escalated into physical violence, with Ashabi accusing the singer of slapping and beating her, confiscating phones, and threatening her and her siblings with an axe.
These allegations prompted law enforcement intervention and led to Portable’s arrest.
While in custody, the singer became the subject of further controversy after a video surfaced online showing him allegedly being assaulted during detention.
The Ogun State Police Command, however, confirmed that they had launched an internal investigation into the conduct of the officers involved, assuring the public that any personnel found culpable would face disciplinary action. (Via The PUNCH)
