Abdullahi Umar Ganduje
Former Kano State Governor and ex-National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has expressed displeasure over comments allegedly made by former governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, in which he reportedly described Ganduje as an enemy.
Speaking on Ganduje’s behalf on Monday, the Director-General of the National Productivity Centre, Dr. Baffa Babba Dan’agundi, said the remarks were inappropriate and counterproductive at a time when Kano State requires unity and cooperation.
“Dr. Ganduje told me clearly that he was not happy at all with the comments made by Senator Kwankwaso against him,” Dan’agundi said.
He noted that Ganduje found the remarks unnecessary, especially as political realignments were ongoing in the state.
“While welcoming Governor Yusuf to our fold, Ganduje made it clear to me that Kwankwaso’s statements were unnecessary, particularly at a time when Kano needs peace, unity and collective progress,” he added.
Dan’agundi further alleged that Kwankwaso made the statement while addressing his supporters in the state.
On the reported move by Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to rejoin the APC, Dan’agundi described the development as a source of excitement among party leaders and supporters.
“It is a thing of joy for us. All APC leaders, stakeholders and supporters in Kano State are happy and excited about the Governor’s return, and we are fully prepared to give him maximum support and cooperation,” he said.
He confirmed that preparations to formally welcome Governor Yusuf back into the APC were already at an advanced stage, both at the national and state levels.
According to him, consultations are ongoing, with a brief delay attributed to the Umrah pilgrimage of the Kano State APC Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, and Ganduje’s temporary absence from the country.
“Once they return, a special meeting will be held with His Excellency Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and his delegation to conclude the process,” Dan’agundi assured. (Arise News)
