By IMELDA OSAYANDE
Gov. Monday Okpebholo of Edo has expressed deep sadness over the death of his Special Adviser on Arewa Matters, Alhaji Danjuma Garba.
The condolence message is contained in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Dr Patrick Ebojele, on Saturday in Benin.
The News Agenc’ of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Garba died on Saturday afternoon after a brief illness.
The governor said the deceased was a dedicated public servant and a vital link between the Edo government and the Arewa community.
He noted that Garba’s commitment to peace, unity and mutual understanding among residents of the state was exemplary.
Okpebholo described him as a loyal aide, a tireless community leader, and a man of great integrity whose counsel was invaluable.
“The news of Alhaji Danjuma Garba’s passing is a heavy blow to this administration and the entire Edo State family.
“He was more than a political appointee; he was a peacemaker who ensured diverse voices were heard and harmonised. His departure has left a difficult vacuum,” he said.
Okpebholo extended condolences to the family and the Arewa community on behalf of the Edo government and people.
The governor also directed prayers for the repose of Garba’s soul and strength for his family to bear the loss.
“May Allah (SWT) grant Alhaji Danjuma Garba Aljannatul Firdaus,” he said. (NAN)
