Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has dismissed reports suggesting a rift between him and the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, describing the claims as false and misleading.
The clarification was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Gboyega Akosile, following reports circulating on some online platforms and blogs alleging a strained relationship between the two governors.
According to the statement, there is no truth to the reports, stressing that the relationship between Governors Sanwo-Olu and Abiodun remains cordial and brotherly.
“We wish to state clearly that this is not true. In fact, it is the direct opposite of the relationship that exists between the two leaders,” the statement said.
Governor Sanwo-Olu noted that both leaders meet regularly and maintain frequent communication on issues of mutual interest, particularly those affecting Lagos and Ogun states.
The statement further explained that the close relationship between the two governors is strengthened by the shared boundaries between both states and their longstanding socio-cultural ties.
The Lagos governor cautioned purveyors of what he described as fake news to desist from spreading false information, emphasising that both leaders are united by a common vision to promote development and improve the welfare of their people.
