I will never vie for senatorial seat: Governor Al-Makura

Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, Nasarawa State Governor, has cleared the air on his future political ambition, saying he had no plans to vie for and would never vie for senatorial seat in 2019.

Speculations were making the rounds in the state that the governor was eyeing a senatorial seat come 2019.
Al-Makura made his stand known while fielding questions from pressmen during a media chat in Government House, Lafia.
He said, “If there is any rumour that Tanko Al-Makura was planning to vie for a Senatorial seat, it is mere speculation and not in my dreams.
“I consider very important and I thank God for giving me opportunity to serve over 300 million people in Nasarawa State. And this singular opportunity that God gave has made me earn the status of the statesman and father. For me now to go and struggle with some people who are looking for one opportunity in their lives, I think I want to be father in the state now if I left office.”
On who will succeed him in 2019, Governor Al-Makura said he was too small to determine who would be his successor; adding that it all depends on the people of Nasarawa State to determine.
The governor who is from Southern senatorial district said, “Southern zone has ruled, western zone has also ruled, morally it is supposed to move to Northern zone when time comes.” (Independent)
