Torty Njoku Kalu, Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, PSC Headquarters
The Police Service Commission (PSC) has warned cyber cafés and agents against extorting money from applicants seeking to apply for recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, PSC Headquarters, Mr. Torty Njoku Kalu, the commission said it had received reports of illegal charges of up to ₦15,000 and above being collected from unsuspecting applicants.
The PSC described claims by some cyber café operators that part of the money was being remitted to the commission or other government agencies as false and fraudulent.
It stressed that application for police recruitment was completely free and that no payment was required at any stage of the process.
The commission warned that it would deal decisively with anyone found engaging in such illegal activities.
Prospective applicants were advised to personally access the official police recruitment portal and avoid involving third parties.
