Nigeria’s Super Eagles this Monday evening, January 5, 2026, thrashed underdogs Mozambique by four unreplied goals to zoom into the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) holding in Morocco.
The three-time champions made a mincemeat of their opponents during the Round of 16 clash decided in Fes, with Ademola Lookman breaking the deadlock from an Akor Adams cutback in the 20th minute.
Victor Osimhen quickly doubled lead in the 25th minute, soon adding the third early in second half before Akor Adams powered in the fourth in the 75th minute, thus Nigeria the first team to score four at the ongoing AFCON.
The Super Eagles, who have so far won all their matches and scored a total of 12 goals, will face Algeria or DR Congo in the quarter-finals on Saturday (16:00 GMT).
