APC chieftain Abdullahi Umar
A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Hon. Abdullahi Umar, has appealed to Kwankwasiyya leader Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Bauchi State Governor Senator Bala Mohammed to defect to the ADC. Speaking with newsmen in Kaduna, Umar described the move as a political necessity to unite forces against the All Progressives Congress (APC) government, which he accused of plunging Nigerians into unprecedented hardship.
Umar lambasted President Bola Tinubu’s administration for implementing policies that have exacerbated economic woes. He singled out the fuel subsidy removal, which triggered skyrocketing fuel prices and inflation, and the controversial new tax bill, which he said burdens ordinary citizens with unbearable levies. “These anti-people policies have turned breadwinners into beggars, with food prices doubling and businesses collapsing under the weight of naira devaluation,” Umar stated.
The APC’s failures extend beyond the economy, Umar asserted. Insecurity has ravaged northern Nigeria, with banditry, kidnappings, and farmer-herder clashes claiming countless lives. “From Zamfara to Borno, families live in fear as APC’s security apparatus crumbles. This is not governance; it’s tyranny that mocks the people’s mandate,” he declared.
In his pitch for the ADC, Umar portrayed the party as Nigeria’s beacon of hope—a platform for true democrats untainted by corruption or ethnic divisions. He highlighted ADC’s commitment to inclusive governance, youth empowerment, and agricultural revival, positioning it as the ideal vehicle to “rescue Nigeria from APC’s clutches.”
“Senator Kwankwaso, with your intellectual depth and mass appeal, and Governor Bala, with your proven leadership in Bauchi, and don’t forget, your tenure is ending in 2027, without immunity, the Tinubu -inspired EFCC, will come for you, so, therefore, join us in ADC. Together, we form an unbeatable coalition of heavyweights to lock horns with APC and deliver prosperity,” Umar urged. He emphasized ADC’s grassroots structure and policy focus on education, healthcare, and infrastructure as keys to national renewal.
Umar’s call comes amid rising opposition murmurs ahead of future polls, signaling potential realignments in Nigeria’s fluid political landscape. Political analysts see it as a strategic bid to consolidate anti-APC votes in the North.
