Two weeks after a peace dinner hosted by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri at the Yola Government House, hostilities have resumed between the Bachama and Chobo communities in Lamurde Local Government Area of Adamawa State, with three Chobo women reportedly killed on their farms on Saturday.
The Adamawa Police Command Spokesman Suleiman Nguroje confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday, said the victims were allegedly attacked by suspected Bachaman militias around Tigno village.
“The Adamawa State Police Command has swiftly responded to the renewed Lamurde tribal conflict between the Bachama and Chobo communities, leading to the killing of three women and the apprehension of two suspects,” Nguroje said.
The arrested suspects, identified as 30-year-old William Joshua and 23-year-old Ezekiel Luka, residents of Tigno, are aiding police investigations. Authorities also recovered 29 rounds of live ammunition, one AK-47 magazine, and ₦90,000 in cash from the suspects, alongside other offensive weapons.
Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris appealed for calm, assuring that the command is taking all necessary legal measures to bring the perpetrators and their instigators to justice.
The communal clashes, which erupted last month, have so far claimed over 18 lives, all reportedly women. (The PUNCH)
