The prohibited drugs
Operatives of the Delta State Police Command, have arrested a middle-aged man, one Isu Emmanuel, who claimed to be a nurse for allegedly selling prohibited drugs in a hotel located at Victoria junction, Okpanam road, near Asaba, Delta State.
The suspect who claimed to be a nurse at Guard Health Pharmacy, Okpanam, was arrested following an intensified surveillance conducted by the State Intelligence Department SID on December 29, 2025 concerning the indiscriminate display and sale of prohibited drugs in the hotel.
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer SP Bright Edafe who confirmed this yesterday, said that the said Isu Emmanuel was reputed for the sales and distribution of controlled drugs without doctors’ prescriptions to members of the public.
He said that during the operation, 28 sachets of tramadol, 100mm sixteen satchets of Swindol, 3 bottles of Barcadine containing codeine syrup and other prohibited and controlled drugs were recovered.
Edafe said that the suspect is currently in custody as investigation is ongoing.
In the same vein, Delta State Police Command said it recorded a major operational success in its sustained fight against violent crimes with the arrest of suspected armed robbers/cultists and the recovery of lethal firearms and ammunition in Ughelli North Local Government Area.
Edafe said that acting on credible, actionable intelligence on 28 December 2025, operatives of the CP Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), led by ASP Julius Robinson, launched a swift and coordinated raid on a criminal hideout at the Otorwhodo area of Ughelli North LGA, Delta State.
The operation, he said resulted in the arrest of one Moses Tejiri, aged 24, a native and resident of the area, while other members of the gang fled the scene by scaling surrounding fences.
He said that a search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of 1 long Dane gun, 10 rounds of live cartridges, 2 locally fabricated Beretta pistols, and 11 rounds of live ammunition.
Edafe said that during preliminary investigation, the suspect made useful confessional statements, admitting involvement in a series of armed robbery incidents around Ekredjebor, Olu Avenue, Winners Road, and other locations within Ughelli metropolis.
He however reassured residents that intelligence-driven patrols, targeted raids, and proactive crime-prevention strategies remain firmly in place to deny criminal elements any safe haven within the State.
He urged members of the public to continue supporting the Police with timely and credible information in the collective effort to keep Delta State safe. (The Sun)
