AB InBev to keep name after SABMiller takeover

Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev) shareholders voted in favour of the purchase of rival brewer SABMiller on Wednesday morning, approving all resolutions at the group’s meeting, including retaining the Anheuser-Busch InBev name after the takeover.

The deal is expected to be finalised by October 10, assuming shareholders in SABMiller and Newbelco vote in favour of it. Their meetings are also taking place on Wednesday.
SABMiller shareholder voting by proxy by Monday’s deadline approved the deal.
AB InBev CEO Carlos Brito said on Wednesday: “We are pleased that our shareholders’ vote brings us one step closer to combining our companies, teams, strong heritage and passion for brewing. We are committed to driving long-term growth and creating value for all our stakeholders.”
