President Tinubu is received by Gov Sanwo-Olu
President Bola Tinubu is in Lagos for the Yuletide.
The former Lagos State governor arrived at the Murtala Mohammed Airport on Saturday evening after a tour of Bauchi and Borno states.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State and other government officials welcomed Tinubu upon his arrival in the coastal state.
A dance troupe was also on the ground to usher the president into Lagos, where he will stay for the end-of-year festivities.
The President arrived his home state Saturday evening and his motorcade immediately proceeded to his Bordillon residence in Ikoyi.
there was restriction of vehicular movement in and around the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) and Ikoyi following the presidential movement.
Several roads leading to Ikoyi were shut.
For instance, vehicles were stopped from Ozumba Mbadiwe inbound Falomo Bridge with motorists trapped for hours.
The presidential movement further compounded the increased traffic congestion in Lagos on Saturday.
A resident who was caught up in the gridlock described the experience as chaotic.
He said: “We were in a spot for more than one hour before vehicles were allowed to move.”
The President had during his Borno State visit, commissioned projects jointly undertaken by Governor Babagana Zulum and the Federal Government including the remodeled Muhammadu Buhari International Airport Maiduguri.
President Tinubu also attended the wedding of Sadeeq Sheriff, son of ex-Borno governor Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, and Hadiza Kam Salem.
From Maiduguri, the President proceeded to Bauchi State to condole with the Bauchi State Government and the family of the late Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi who died on November 27.
Following the condolence visit, Tinubu travelled to Lagos. While in the state, the President is expected to be the Guest of Honour at the Eyo Festival scheduled for December 27.
Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga had said, “He is expected to be the guest of honour at the Eyo Festival scheduled for December 27, among his numerous engagements while in the city.”
The festival, which will hold at the Tafawa Balewa Square, will honour prominent figures, including Tinubu’s mother, Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji, and former Lagos State governors, Alhaji Lateef Jakande and Chief Michael Otedola. (Pieced together from reports by Channels TV and Weekend Trust)
