ICPC Chairman, Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has disowned a viral message soliciting financial contributions for a purported “End of Year Whistle Blowing and Anti-Corruption Reports Submissions” scheduled to take place from December 17 to 22 at the EFCC Headquarters.
The circulating announcement, allegedly signed by one Dandaura Takalis, PhD, who claimed to represent a “Coalition of Civil Society and Human Rights Organisation,” has been declared fake by the Commission.
In a public disclaimer issued on Friday, the ICPC stated that it has no knowledge of the individual, the organisation he claims to represent, or the event being advertised. It also clarified that it was never contacted, consulted, or involved in any way regarding the purported programme.
The statement was signed by J. Okor Odey, ANIPR, Spokesperson and Head of Media and Public Communications for the ICPC.,a copy made available to press in Kano.
“The Commission therefore dissociates itself completely from the message and warns the general public to exercise utmost caution,” the statement read.
The ICPC urged citizens not to make any financial payments or offer any form of support, stressing that the message “bears the clear markings of a scam.”
Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and accountability, the Commission advised the public to verify all information relating to its activities through official communication channels. (Nigerian Tribune)
