Late Senator Ewhrudjakpo
A state governor has inadvertently confirmed the sudden death of Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.
As earlier reported by News Express, Senator Ewhrudjakpo, 60, slumped in his office during a meeting held earlier today, Thursday, December 11, 2025, and was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, for urgent medical attention.
However, there was no confirmation of his passing until this evening when the Adamawa State Governor, ALhaji Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, issued a condolence message, saying that he received the news of the Deputy Governor’s passing with shock and sadness. Fintiri described Ewhrudjakpo as “a remarkable leader who embodied trust, integrity and dedication”.
The Governor extended heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family, the government and people of Bayelsa State, and particularly to Governor Douye Diri, noting that the late Senator’s contributions to public service were both impactful and inspiring.
Governor Fintiri, according to the condolence message quoted by The Sun, highlighted Ewhrudjakpo’s “courage, determination and passion for the development of Bayelsa State, stressing that his efforts in governance would be remembered for generations.”
“His tireless commitment to the progress of his state will be deeply missed, and his legacy will continue to inspire future generations,” Fintiri said.
He prayed for comfort for the grieving family and for the repose of the Deputy Governor’s soul, adding: “May his memory be a blessing to the people of Bayelsa State and Nigeria, and may his contributions to nation-building continue to inspire us all.”
