The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has condemned the coordinated attack on its Bakin Ruwa checkpoint under the Tuga Border Patrol Formation in Kebbi State, which claimed the lives of three personnel.

The Service’s Comptroller-General, Kemi Nandap, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja by the Service Public Relations Officer (SPRO), Akinsola Akinlabi.

Nandap said the attack was carried out by unidentified armed men on Thursday at about 2200 hours.

She said the assailants also destroyed several operational assets and facilities at the location during the raid.

According to her, the Service deeply regrets the loss of the three officers who died in the line of duty.

Nandap extended the Service’s condolences and support to the families, colleagues, and loved ones of the fallen personnel, describing their deaths as a selfless sacrifice in the protection of Nigeria’s borders.

She ordered an immediate tactical response, including the deployment of reinforcements to the affected formation, intensified joint operations with sister security agencies, and strengthened intelligence-gathering along the entire Tuga axis.

She added that heightened patrols had also been activated to deter further threats and restore full security control of the area.

Nandap reaffirmed the Service’s determination to secure Nigeria’s borders, saying it would not be deterred by acts of criminality.

She urged members of the public to remain calm and continue cooperating with security agencies in ongoing efforts to ensure national security. (NAN)
