Governor Mutfwang praising God at Fridays Plateau Unity Christmas Carols
Former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has commended the leadership style of the Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, for sustaining and uplifting the spirit of unity, continuity, and collective purpose exemplified by the Plateau Unity Christmas Carols.
Speaking before thousands of worshippers at the iconic Ten Commandments site in Doi, Jos South Local Government Area, on Friday, November 28, 2025, Obasanjo expressed profound gratitude to God for the prevailing unity in the state under Governor Mutfwang’s leadership, describing the gathering as an inspiring demonstration of faith against all odds.
The former President extolled the vision of former Governor, Sen. Jonah David Jang, noting that the Ten Commandments project, though initially misunderstood, has matured into a global symbol of faith, resilience, and cultural identity.
“Senator Jang, I was told that when you began this, many did not see that it was an inspiration from God. Not many start something like this and survive it. But you started, you survived, and today you are witnessing the fruits of your efforts. I congratulate you,” Obasanjo said.
He also praised Governor Mutfwang for consolidating and advancing the legacy with integrity, focus, and strategic continuity.
“Governor, I commend you for making good use of what one of your predecessors initiated. You have maintained continuity, something our society and governments often struggle with.”
Obasanjo emphasized that the Plateau Unity Christmas Carol possesses the potential to become an internationally recognized spiritual tourism event. He called for a long-term strategy to elevate the festival to global prominence.
“This event deserves to be on the world tourism calendar. People across Nigeria, Africa, and the world should know that for three days every year, there is this unique and gigantic open gathering,” he stated.
He urged the state government to begin enhancing infrastructure to accommodate the influx of pilgrims from around the world, stressing that the message of Christmas remains a foundation of hope and renewal.
In his welcome address, Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang officially declared open the 2025 Plateau Unity Christmas Carols and Praise Festival (2nd edition). He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to restoring unity, harmony, and shared purpose, values he described as essential for sustainable development.
“We have set aside all the things that divide us, and we gather tonight under one banner, the banner of Jesus Christ. With unity, we will achieve a lot,” the Governor said.
Reflecting on past internal conflicts that hindered growth, he urged citizens to embrace reconciliation. “We have not achieved much because we fight one another. Let us drop the things that divide us and focus on what unites us.”
Describing Plateau as a divine gift to the nation, Governor Mutfwang stated: “Plateau is blessed. Plateau is God’s blessing to Nigeria, and we are the ones who must make that blessing a reality.”
He dedicated the festival to the glory of God, praying for renewed brotherhood and collective healing. “May the spirit of unity envelop us. May God knit our hearts together as one people.”
The 2025 Plateau Unity Christmas Carol brought together diverse communities, national leaders, former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, General Martin Luther Agwai, former Governor Jonah David Jang, senior government officials, and thousands of worshippers, an inspiring convergence that reaffirmed Plateau State’s standing as a beacon of peace.
