A coalition of youth groups known as Emerging Leaders Forum of Nigeria, has rejected the recent call for military invasion on Nigeria by United States of America President, Donald Trump.

The groups comprising of the leaderships of Eminent Youth bodies such as Arewa Youth Movement, AYM, Ohanaeze Youth Federation, OYF, Oduduwa Youth Parliament, OYP, National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, Niger Delta Youth Front, NDYF, Middle Belt Youth Forum, MBYF.

This was contained in a press statement presented by Hon. Godstime Chukwubuikem Samuel, ELFON President, and made available to journalists in Abuja on Wednesday.

The organisations stated that as opinion moulders and part of the leadership of Nigeria, they have noted President Trump's concerns, but advised that he follows the path of dialogue and respect for the sovereignty of Nigeria if he actually intends to assist in combating insecurity.

Part of the statement reads: “We want to state that we are against any form of military invasion on our country. We urge President Donald Trump to liaise with our President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu on best ways he can support our Nigerian Military in the fight against terrorism, banditry and every other social vices.

"We understand the role assigned to the United States by the United Nations Convention on Counter-terrorism, but then Nigeria is a sovereign nation and we can deal with our problems our style.”

The groups noted that some members opposed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu have been mobilizing digital campaigns against Tinubu’s key political henchmen ahead of 2027 elections.
