Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has sparked controversy after a video surfaced showing the poor state of the hotel where the Nigerian team is lodged In Rabat, Morocco, ahead of Nigeria’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup playoff clash against Gabon on Thursday.
In a short nine-second video shared by sports journalist POOJA!!! (@PoojaMedia) on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Iwobi appeared visibly speechless as he recorded the surroundings of the team’s hotel, highlighting the substandard conditions the Super Eagles are enduring in camp.
The video has since gone viral, prompting widespread concern among fans and pundits about the Nigeria Football Federation’s (NFF) handling of logistics and player welfare for such a vital fixture.
As of Monday, 11 players, including captain William Troost-Ekong, Benjamin Fredericks, Calvin Bassey, Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi, Moses Simon, Tolu Arokodare, Olakunle Olusegun, Samuel Chukwueze, and Chidozie Awaziem, have checked into the team’s base in Rabat.
