Fear God, not Trump — Oluwo tells Tinubu

Oba Abdurosheed Akanbi, the Oluwo of Iwoland

The Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdurosheed Akanbi, has advised President Bola Tinubu to place his faith in God rather than be swayed by external pressures, particularly from figures like U.S. President, Donald Trump.

Speaking at the annual Olodumare Festival in Iwo on Sunday, Oluwo emphasized that if Tinubu submits his concerns to God, who created all, including Trump, there is no reason for fear. He highlighted that Iwo has remained untouched by war due to its community’s steadfast devotion to God.

“Tinubu will be successful if he gives all glory to God Almighty. He needs to give more glory to God than he has been doing. If we can all return to God, there is nothing to fear,” Oluwo stated.

He continued, “Here in Iwoland, we don’t fear anyone, we don’t fear any nuclear power, we don’t fear Trump. So, Tinubu should not fear Trump; he should fear God. He does not need to fear nuclear power; he should fear God (Olodumare). That is why Iwo has never been ravaged by war.”

Addressing the theme of generational curses, Oluwo described it as a significant barrier to individual success. He indicated that the festival serves as a prayerful plea for God to cleanse the land of such curses.

“Our annual celebration is to pray to God for new beginnings. This year, we want God to cleanse our land from generational curses. I am a king chosen by God to champion this prayer against generational curses,” he added.

The Oluwo urged traditional rulers across Yoruba land to follow his example and act as representatives of God, stressing that positive change will come from abandoning the worship of deities.

“All traditional rulers must know that their palaces belong to the unquestionable God; they should be representatives of God on earth and not serve deities. It is only God that appoints kings,” Oluwo said. (The Sun)
