Police arrest 3 suspects over murder of lawyer in A/ Ibom community




Akwa Ibom state Police command says it has arrested three suspects over the gruesome murder of one Barr Ekemini Cletus Udoh at Nto Edino community in Obot Akara local area of Akwa Ibom state.

It was gathered that incident occured when late Ekemini Udoh attended a factional meeting of African Democratic Congress (ADC) challenging conveners of the meeting in Nto Edino ward 1 in Obot Akara council area of the state .

According to the report by ADC fact finding committee on the incident headed by Frank Essiet and made available to Journalists in Uyo , the meeting was held at Nto Inyang within Nto Edino where the deceased argued over their right to convene such meeting before the Convener allegedly ordered his thugs to beat him up .

Eyewitness who pleaded anonymity said the argument centred on the factional leadership in ADC as the victim challenged the conveners of the meeting.

”A heated argument erupted during the meeting over the factional leadership within the ADC in Akwa Ibom state.

“The deceased, Ekemini Udo challenged the legitimacy of the factional ward EXCO, questioning their authority to operate”

He said thugs arrived the venue of the meeting and dealt some matchet blows as slumped in the pool of his blood .

” He was rushed to hospital and he died the following day while receiving treatment”

Meanwhile, Akwa Ibom State Police Command has confirmed the incident and described it as unfortunate i involving the late Barr. Ekemini Udoh.

Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO) in the state DSP Timfon John in a WhatsApp message said the deceased was attacked by unidentified assailants.

“Upon receiving the distress information, police operatives immediately visited the scene and rescued the victim, who was then taken to the Hospital where he sadly passed away while receiving treatment.

“Following intensive investigation, three suspects have been arrested in connection with the attack and subsequent death of the victim.

“The Command assures the public that justice will be served and urges anyone with useful information to come forward to assist with the investigation”. (SUN)
