NCDC debunks recruitment rumours, warns public against scammers

The North Central Development Commission (NCDC) has debunked reports circulating on social media suggesting that the Commission has commenced recruitment, describing the claims as false and misleading.

In a statement issued on Friday, October 24, 2025, by the Executive Director, Corporate Services, Mr. James Uloko, the Commission clarified that it has not started any recruitment exercise and warned the public to be wary of fraudsters exploiting the situation.

“The North Central Development Commission (NCDC) wishes to inform the general public that it has not commenced any recruitment exercise, contrary to rumours suggesting that the Commission is currently employing,” Uloko stated.

He explained that since the establishment of the Commission, and following the appointment and inauguration of its Board and Management, the NCDC has been in the early stages of setting up its organizational framework and assessing its human and material resource needs.

“As part of this process, the Commission has commenced engagements with the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, the Federal Character Commission, and other relevant government agencies to conduct a comprehensive needs assessment and obtain the necessary waivers and approvals,” Uloko added.

According to him, the recruitment process can only commence after these preliminary steps have been completed and the Commission’s budget proposal has been passed by the National Assembly.

“It is important to note that the Commission’s budget proposal is yet to receive final passage at the National Assembly, making any claims of ongoing recruitment entirely false,” he said.

Uloko urged members of the public to disregard such rumours and avoid falling victim to scammers promising fake employment opportunities or collecting money under the guise of recruitment.

“The NCDC therefore advises members of the public to remain vigilant against the activities of fraudsters who may attempt to defraud unsuspecting individuals through fake employment offers or online recruitment portals,” he cautioned.

He assured that when the time comes, the recruitment exercise will be announced publicly and conducted in line with due process, transparency, and fairness.

“When recruitment begins, it will be publicly announced and carried out transparently, with due process and engagement of relevant stakeholders,” the statement concluded. (THE SUN)
