The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the discovery of the decomposing body of a Togolese national, identified as Azamba Midowosso Joseph, in his apartment at Silver Estate, Idimu, Lagos.
Sources said the incident occurred on Oct. 22 after one Gabriel Folunsho Ogunrotimi perceived a foul odour emanating from the residence of the deceased at No. 11, Michael Adeboye Street.
According to the sources, Ogunrotimi, who is the landlord of the building, traced the odour to the apartment of the tenant and, on peeping through the window, saw the lifeless body of Joseph lying on the bed.
A team of police detectives from the Idimu Division visited the scene, took photographs, and forcefully gained entry into the apartment, where the decomposed body was formally discovered.
The remains of the deceased were evacuated and deposited at the Mainland General Hospital Morgue, Yaba, for autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Authorities said preliminary findings suggest no immediate signs of foul play but noted that investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the Togolese national’s death. (Zagazola)
