6 arrested for breaking government seal in Ogun

The Ogun state government has arrested 6 individuals along Oba Erinwole road in Sagamu for allegedly breaking government seal and for resuming construction after the site was sealed.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA), Hon. Farouk Akintunde, made this known to newsmen in his office at Oke-Mosan Abeokuta.

Akintunde, who also doubles as the chairman Ogun State Environmental Compliance and Enforcement, said, a gas station, which was under construction was earlier sealed by the government for violating the environmental laws of the State, but, surprisingly, at a compliance inspection to the site, workers were seen working there.

“Breaking government seal is a serious offence which attracts punishment under the environmental law of the State,” he said.

In a related development, a farm at Laderin Estate, in Abeokuta was also sealed for rearing animals in a residential area, which is in violation of the environmental law of the state.

The special adviser also noted that the enforcement team have removed shanties along major roads in the capital city. (Blue Print)
