The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has commended one of its officers, Muibi Ademola (Bravo 27), for rejecting a ?20,000 cash offer from a motorist at the Ago–Ibiwoye axis of Okota, Lagos.

In a statement on Wednesday by the Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Adebayo Taofiq, the agency described the officer’s action as “a rare display of integrity, discipline, and professionalism.”

According to the statement, a motorist had drawn Ademola’s attention to traffic congestion in the area.

The officer reportedly moved swiftly to the scene and restored order.

Impressed by his response, the motorist offered him ?20,000 as appreciation, which he declined, saying he was only performing his lawful duty as a public servant.

Reacting to the report, the General Manager of LASTMA, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, praised the officer’s “uncommon integrity and fidelity to the ethical tenets that define LASTMA’s operations.”

“Such rare conduct not only strengthens public confidence in the agency but also underscores the renewed spirit of transparency, accountability, and service excellence being institutionalized within LASTMA under the visionary leadership of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu,” Bakare-Oki said.

He added that Ademola’s conduct reflects “the moral reorientation and value reawakening” being championed by the agency to restore dignity and public trust in traffic enforcement across the state.

The LASTMA boss urged other officers to emulate Ademola’s example by upholding honesty and fairness in the discharge of their duties.

“The agency remains steadfast in recognizing and celebrating officers whose actions elevate the institutional image of LASTMA and project the Lagos State Government as a bastion of integrity-driven governance.” he added.

Bakare-Oki also reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to ongoing training and ethical reorientation to strengthen discipline and professionalism among officers.

In his response, Ademola thanked the management and the Lagos State Government for prioritizing staff welfare and training.

“Ademola further appreciated the Lagos State Government for its continued provision of essential logistics, including standard uniforms and other operational materials, which, according to him, greatly enhance the efficiency and morale of officers in the discharge of their duties,” the statement added.
