Policeman faces sanction after shooting in Delta hotel

By John Ogunsemore

A policeman in Delta State will today appear before the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Police Command, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, following his involvement in a shooting near a hotel in the state.

Spokesman of the command, SP Bright Edafe disclosed this in an X post.

A viral video circulated on X on Tuesday showing the policeman allegedly shooting at a moving vehicle around Toscana Hotel along Okpanam Road in Asaba, the state capital.

The shooting incident generated furore on the social media platform, with many netizens demanding a probe.

Reacting to the video, Edafe described the incident as “embarrassing and careless”.

He confirmed that a probe was underway as the policeman involved had been identified.

Edafe said, “In all honesty, this is embarrassing, shameful, careless, so unprofessional and not justified at all.

“The policeman has been identified, detained and will appear before the CP today.” (The Sun)
