Officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Funtua LGA of Katsina State have returned N6.2 million cash and other items recovered from a fatal road accident scene to their rightful owners.
The tragic crash, which occurred along the Gusau–Sokoto Road in Funtua local government area of Katsina State, claimed two lives and left 16 others injured. The incident happened at Dikke village after the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle due to brake failure.
According to a report by the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) in Funtua, FRSC personnel promptly arrived at the scene and evacuated the victims to Sarkin Maska Hospital in Funtua for treatment.
Speaking on the development, the Acting Sector Commander of the Corps, Ali Murtala, disclosed that the officers recovered N6.2 million in cash and four mobile phones valued at N550,000 during the rescue operation.
“We have handed over all the recovered items to their rightful owners,” Murtala said, commending his officers for their professionalism and integrity in handling the situation.
One of the accident victims, who identified himself as the owner of the money, expressed profound gratitude to the FRSC officers for their honesty, describing their action as exemplary and worthy of emulation.
The FRSC in Funtua LGA urged motorists to maintain their vehicles regularly and adhere to traffic regulations to prevent avoidable road accidents. (LEADERSHIP)
