Armed robbers rampage in Lagos, waste 3 policemen, others

Armed robbers this afternoon wasted the lives of at least three policemen in Lagos after launching a surprise attack on a patrol vehicle.

The Rapid Response Squad (RRS) men were on a routine patrol in their Toyota Hilux van in the Agege/Ogba area when they were taken by surprise by the hoodlums, who were said to have been on a robbery operation during which they reportedly cleaned out a bureau de change.

“It was a bloody attack and not limited to Agege/Ogba,” said a top police source. “Several other areas were also affected.”

News Express learnt that at least a boy and a girl died in another robbery operation elsewhere in Lagos.

As a result, scores of combat-ready policemen have been deployed to the affected areas, especially in Agege and Ogba, in a desperate effort to track down the hoodlums.

Senior police officers in Lagos were holding a crucial meeting with the state Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Umaru Manko, as at the time of this writing.
