Intersociety teams up with Agunechemba to rescue hostages

•Arrested suspects implicate Army

Leading human rights group, the International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law (Intersociety), has unmasked a killer gang terrorising parts of Anambra and Imo states. It thereafter teamed up with Anambra State Government-owned Agunachemba/Udo Ga Achi security outfit to rescue some of the hostages and apprehend some of the suspects.

The big break came after Intersociety, which is headquartered in famed Anambra commercial town Onitsha, wrote a petition to Prince Ken Emeakai, Special Adviser on Community Security to Anambra Governor, and Dr. Ikioye Orutugu, the Anambra Commissioner of Police.

Dated July 25, 2025, the petition was copied the State Governor, Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo. It exposed and sought for “the dismantling of various killer-camps operated by the dreaded Ndikeokwu-Uli Vigilante Group.”

News Express learnt that about four days after receiving the letter, Intersociety received calls from the Intelligence Unit of Agunachemba/Udo Ga Achi security outfit, seeking for the rights group’s maximum cooperation to ensure thorough and conclusive investigation.

Intersociety quickly obliged. This, according to a September 30, 2025 statement signed by Intersociety Head, Emeka Umeagbalasi; Head, Dept. of Campaign and Publicity, Chidinma Udegbunam, Esquire; and Head, Comrade Chinenye Nwamebe Department of Policing and Law Enforcement, led to more shocking discoveries. These included “additional deaths of more than 20 defenseless citizens and abduction, torture, extortion and disappearance of several others; emerging shocking details of which were obtained from the rescued victims’ accounts which further revealed the complicity of some personnel of the Nigerian Army of the 34 Army Brigade, Obinze near Owerri, Imo State and the Onitsha 302 Army Cantonment in Anambra State.

“Also found to be complicit in the killings and allied atrocity crimes, according to the rescued victims’ accounts, were some local troublesome billionaires reportedly using operatives of the dreaded Ndikeokwu-Uli Vigilante outfit and their leaders to do dirty jobs, after which they stop at nothing in ensuring that they (culpable troublesome billionaires) never get implicated or exposed or caught; to the extent that culpable members of the dreaded outfit working for them are taken into hiding or flown to neighboring countries where they are kept and hidden for months before they are brought back to continue their dastardly acts masterminded backed by their paymasters or sponsors.”

Intersociety’s painstaking investigations revealed that the following ten defenseless indigenes of Ndikeokwu-Uli Community were abducted and killed outside the law since 2022: 1. Chijioke Mgbeobu (killed in March 2023), 2. Sunday Onyebuchi (killed in September 2022), 3. Livinus Mmuo (killed in May 2023), 4. Ikechi Obiejemba (killed in October 2023), 5. Uchenna Ahize (killed in Dec 2023), 6. Happiness Okorie (killed in June 2023), 7. Stainless Ogunji (killed September 2023), 8. Onyebuchi Okorie (killed in February 2024), 9. Chidi Ohanyele (killed on Jan 5, 2024 and 10. Nwute (killed on Feb 1, 2025).

On abducted and ransomed victims, Intersociety said: “Cases of abductions by killer operatives of the dreaded Ndikeokwu-Uli Vigilantes in Ihiala, also hit hard on the peace loving Egbuoma Community in Oguta, Imo State; during which millions of naira were collected as ransoms or “bail fees” from friends and family members of the abducted and tortured victims. One of them was the mother of abducted Citizen Kosarachi Ohajuba who was forced to empty her savings, from where she gathered N550,000 and gave it to the leader of the dreaded outfit (Kingsley Arinzechukwu Iruobi, alias ‘AK47 De Killer).

“Not only that her son, Kosarachi Ohajuba, was not released to her but she was also told to sell her husband’s ancestral land to raise and pay the extra N3m demanded. Other victims of the killer outfit’s ransom syndicate included Citizen Achiose Odemgbe who was abducted by the dreaded outfit on July 29, 2024 at about 3pm and held illegally for more than three weeks until his friends and relatives secured his release with a ransom of N3m.”

That was not all as, “No fewer than ten defenseless civilian houses belonging to defenseless indigenes of Egbuoma, particularly its village of Ebenano were destroyed or burned down by members of Ndikeokwu-Uli killer vigilante outfit including those belonging to: Late Clement Ajari and his family, Late Lolo Odalanya Obiwuru, David Ohajuba, Marcel Obidiukwu and Ikechukwu Ben and five others. In the broad day light of Friday, July 11, 2025, the dreaded outfit invaded a popular junction close to Afor-Egbu Market located at Ebenano Village of Egbuoma and opened fire, shot indiscriminately and engaged in looting spree and in the end carted away: 1. 80 liters of fuel and one MP3 radio cassette player with torch light belonging to Abuchi Uzoma, 2. 20 cans of engine oil and 25 liters of fuel belonging to a Vulcanizer, named Happiness, 3. 12 bottles of lager beer belonging to Uzoka’s wife, 4. 8 power bank phone chargers and one MP3 radio cassette, 5. 8 Android Phones and one Power Bank charger looted from telephone charging kiosk belonging to one Mr. Ifeanyi; to mention but a few.”

Intersociety detailed the following fresh discoveries following its cooperation with the investigating team of Agunaechemba/Udo Ga Achi security outfit: “No fewer than twenty more defenseless citizens were abducted and killed outside the law by the Ndikeokwu-Uli Vigilante killer outfit, perpetrated in collusion with some military personnel. Citizen Kosarachi Ohajuba from Egbuoma, for instance, was abducted on June 20, 2025 and falsely labeled. He was held in captivity in one of the torture and killer camps belonging to the dreaded outfit in Uli where he met eighteen others who were all males in their different productive age-brackets and by the time he and about three others were transferred to a Nigerian Army camp nearby, only four of them remained alive and fourteen others executed. He also disclosed to us that out of the remaining four, three were freed after their families paid millions of naira ransoms and that payments to that effect were coordinated by the dreaded outfit with their Nigerian Army personnel collaborators and partners-in-crime.

“Among the fourteen defenseless citizens feared killed by the dreaded outfit was Citizen Okeke Obinna Benedict, from neighboring Ohakpu Community in Oru-West, Imo State. He had returned from his base for a traditional marriage ceremony and was riding on his motorcycle to see a relative on June 20, 2025, the same day Kosarachi was abducted. According to accounts, Citizen Okeke Obinna heard several gunshots fired in different lethal directions by the dreaded outfit and tried to escape, from where he was abducted and never seen or located till date. Other defenseless citizens killed or feared killed according to their families and friends’ accounts included 2. Chinemerem Egesionu (Umuede-Amamputu, Uli) abducted by the dreaded outfit since Nov 17, 2023, 3. Harrison Izuchukwu Obodoechi (Uli), abducted since Jan 27, 2025, 4. Abuchi Ozodiegwu (Uli), killed in May 2024 and dumped inside bush, 5. Ifeanyi Anyinoo (Uli), killed in Jan 2023 and dumped inside bush, 6. Ekele Chukwujekpe (Uli), killed in Nov 2024 and dumped inside bush, 7. Remi Okafor, an Okada rider, abducted along the road in broad day light since August 2025 and disappeared till date; and 8. Emeka Okoli-Egbe (Umuoma-Uli), abducted since Jan 19, 2025 and disappeared till date, and Citizen Onyebuchi Okafor (Egbuoma-Oguta), killed and dumped inside bush.”

Intersociety used Kosarachi, who “cheated death and spent over 2 months in six vigilante and army death camps” as a case study. It wrote: “Available accounts showed that rescued Citizen Kosarachi Ohajuba was abducted by Ndikeokwu-Uli Vigilante killer outfit on June 20, 2025 and held captive for more than one month, before being handed over to an Ihiala Army camp, from where he was transferred alongside three others from one Army camp to another. They are likely to have been saved from execution following disclosures contained in our petition of July 25, 2025 and wide publicity accompanying them, thanks to our media friends. The four including Citizen Kosarachi, were handed over to a local Army camp at Ihiala as ‘confirmed IPOB/ESN members’ to be executed and their bodies criminally interred or disposed without traces. Their handover to some personnel of the Nigerian Army was also to cover up and escape culpability. Further disclosed was that while two of the four were later freed by their Army captors after their relatives were forced to pay millions of naira, Citizen Kosarachi and Citizen Ozoemene Nwabekee (an indigene of Nsugbe) were bundled to different Army camps; first to Ihiala and from there to Orsu, Ihembosi and Onitsha Army Barracks, where relatives of Citizen Ozoemene were later forced to pay heavily secure his release on August 13, 2025. It was from Onitsha Army Barracks that Citizen Kosarachi Ohajuba was bundled at late night, possibly alongside other captives, to faraway Sokoto State, during which he was blindfolded and forced into two days of tortious journey.

“Citizen Kosarachi further informed the Intersociety that it was in Sokoto that a Northern Muslim Army officer informed him, thus: ‘kai inyamili, na Sokoto we dey oo!’; and that it was from there that he was brought back to Onitsha Army Barracks and placed under one Army Officer named Haruna and detained at off barracks cell located at ‘civilian mammy cell’ where those accused of ‘wandering’ and late hour returnees are rounded up, detained and later freed for a fee after being tortured or brutalized. Citizen Kosarachi could not say if he was abducted and taken to Sokoto alongside others, having been blindfolded and moved at night. As a matter of fact, he cheated death and refused to die, having been severely and severally tortured and brutalized at each of the six death camps.

“Citizen Kosarachi Ohajuba was finally and miraculously located, having been tracked following a distress call made to his mother after he was returned to Onitsha Army Barracks on August 28, 2025 during which he was detained for extra seven days after which his mother put a distress call to us through our own Comrade Chinenye Nwamebe, from where he was finally freed without paying a dime on Sept 4, 2025. He had called his mother using his Onitsha Army Barracks cellmate phone number. It is also our information that upon Citizen Kosarachi’s release, his Egbuoma-Oguta Community, particularly his village, erupted into tumultuous celebrations and jubilations with different masquerades and other entertainment troupes displayed, followed by torrential video and voice calls to him at his recovering and resting place to mark his triumphant freedom.”

How Agunaechemba Security Outfit Raided The Uli Killer-Group’s Death Camps And Freed Five More Captives: The recent raids at some death camps belonging to the Killer Outfit at Uli were reported to have forced the killer operatives to run and go into hiding, leading to rescue of five more captives, out of which, one was suspected to be an informant who possibly possesses details about the activities of the killer group’s leaders and their paymasters. He was likely to have been accidentally freed. Having taken down his statement and data, close sources at Agunaechemba State Security Outfit headquarters (Lion House) also informed us that they were pressured to hand him over to a team of high ranking Army officers that strangely came for him, possibly sent by some troublesome billionaires backing the killer outfit’s nefarious activities in order not to be exposed or implicated. His present whereabouts is also hanging in the balance.

It was also reported how the killer outfit wanted to launch deadly attack on special duty personnel of Agunaechemba State Security Outfit by attempting to lay ambush on their special squad that later raided some of their death camps at Uli. The above was after they tricked and misled a nearby team of Nigerian Army personnel into opening fire on Agunaechemba special squad and claimed that they were suspected ESN or IPOB or UGM. It was the swift intervention of the Public Relations Officer of Agunaechemba, Comrade Nweke Nweke, that saved the situation.

It is also our information that the authorities of Agunaechemba State Security Outfit are in possession of statements volunteered by several rescued victims and relatives looking for their loved ones for months or years in the hands of Ndikeokwu-Uli killer vigilantes. Not less than ten persons including survivors, eyewitnesses and relatives and friends of the slain, the abducted and missing, the abducted, tortured, illegally detained and extorted victims as well as victims of looted and destroyed properties have been sent to Agunaechemba security outfit headquarters (Lion House) at Awka to corroboratively volunteer statements and other useful information in aid of the Agunaechemba’s ongoing investigations.

Intersociety gave the names of four victims rescued by Agunaechemba during the Uli raids as Anyaloka Ifeanyi (Ebelato-Amorka), Eluamaeze Chinedu (Umuabuchi, Eziama-Uli), Tochukwu Egwutuoha (Ubahudara-Uli), Okechukwu Igbo (Ndikeokwu-Uli). The fifth person, according to the rights group, was picked up by a team of senior soldiers at Agunaechemba’s Lion House, Awka.

Intersociety described the notorious Ndikeokwu-Uli Vigilante outfit as “an assemblage of about 10-man terror gang or more under the leadership and command of Kingsley Arinzechukwu Iruobi – alias AK-47 De Killer, followed by “Oba Ehi 2/c De Killer”. Other the rights group identified as chieftains of the killer group are Nnamdi ‘ND De Vampire’ and Okechukwu Obi, alias ‘Bitter Cola’.

While thanking Agunaechemba “for good efforts made so far,” Intersociety is, “Strongly demanding for total sanitization of the dreaded group’s camps and their likes across Anambra State and continuation of manhunt for the killer-operatives until they are captured, disarmed, blacklisted, dismissed as well as barred from further security engagements and tried for culpable murders and allied atrocity crimes and identification of the affected victims and payment of adequate compensations to them to avoid revenge, backlash and lawsuits.”
