Armed men have abducted seven travellers along the Itobe–Anyagba expressway in Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State, police have confirmed.
Sources disclosed that a patrol team sighted an abandoned ash-coloured Toyota Avensis car with registration number KTU 503 CV by the roadside on Wednesday evening.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle, which had eight occupants, was coming from Kabba en route Benue State when it was ambushed by hoodlums at Ojuwo Olijo forest.
“Seven passengers were taken away into the bush, while one female occupant, Elizabeth Istifanu from Kabba, managed to escape,” the sources said.
According to the sources Army troops, police, and vigilantes were monilised to the scene.
The sources added that bush combing operations were ongoing with a view to rescuing the victims and apprehending the perpetrators. (ZAGAZOLA)
