Super Eagles team
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed that the Super Eagles will play two high-profile international friendlies against Venezuela and Colombia in the United States during the FIFA window in November 2025.
According to NFF’s FIFA Match Agent, Jairo Pachón of Eurodata Sport, the three-time African champions will face Venezuela on Friday, 14 November 2025, at the Shell Stadium in Houston, Texas, with kick-off scheduled for 8pm local time. Four days later, on Tuesday, 18 November 2025, the Eagles will confront Colombia’s Los Cafeteros at the Citi Field Stadium in Flushing Meadows, Queens, New York. Kick-off is 8pm Eastern Time (1am on Wednesday, 19 November in Nigeria).
The fixtures mark Nigeria’s return to the US after their summer tour of 2022, where they narrowly lost 2-1 to Mexico in Dallas, with Cyriel Dessers netting Nigeria’s goal. That encounter was Portuguese coach José Peseiro’s first game in charge. The Eagles also suffered a slim defeat to Ecuador in New Jersey during the same tour.
Meanwhile, attention is also fixed on the Golden Eaglets, who are on the brink of securing qualification for the 2026 Africa U17 Cup of Nations. The five-time world champions will face arch-rivals Ghana’s Black Starlets in the second semi-final of the ongoing WAFU-B U17 Championship at the Stade Charles Konan Banny on Tuesday, with kick-off at 8pm Nigeria time.
The Eaglets, who topped Group B with four points, have shown strong form in the tournament, scoring four goals and conceding just one. Ghana, on the other hand, struggled through the group stage, managing a 1-1 draw with Togo. They came short with three goals deficit against host Cote d’ Ivoire in their second game and were on the verge of crashing out when the scoreline stood at 1-1 against Niger Republic, before two late goals in second half secured a win and qualification for semi-final.
History favours the Nigerians, who have consistently edged the Starlets in recent WAFU-B encounters. They defeated Ghana 4-2 in the opening match of the 2022 edition in Cape Coast and followed up with a 3-2 victory in the bronze medal clash of the last edition in Accra.
Victory for the Eaglets on Tuesday would not only seal a place in the final but also guarantee Nigeria a ticket to the 2026 U17 AFCON. (AriseNews TV)
