Three children were discovered dead in their father’s car at the Zannari area of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

Father of two of the victims, Babagana Zanna Jaridama, a well-known social media political critic, alleged that the killing was connected to a recent post in which he accused some politicians of sabotaging Governor Babagana Zulum.

Speaking to Daily Trust, Zanna said the children were kidnapped on Tuesday by an unidentified woman before their bodies were later dumped in his vehicle.

“On Tuesday, our neighbour’s son who was playing with them, rushed to inform my family that a woman had called them under the pretence of giving them alms, but instead abducted the three children.

“Two of the victims are my children, while the third is my neighbour’s son. Anwar, aged three, is a namesake of Governor Zulum, while Fatima, also known as Mama, was just two years old,” he said.

He added that after two days of frantic search and appeals for their release, the corpses of the children were found inside his car at midnight on Thursday.

Zanna confirmed that he reported the abduction and subsequent killing to the police, urging a thorough investigation to ensure justice.

He also disclosed that the bodies of the children had been taken to a hospital for autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer of Borno State Command, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, were unsuccessful, as he neither answered phone calls nor responded to text messages on the matter. (Daily Trust)
