Amosun tasks police on kidnapping

Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has urged the Police in Ogun State to do everything within its powers to nip incidences of kidnapping in the bud.

“One must commend the officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force for keeping Ogun State and indeed, Nigeria safe. But there is an area that still requires attention and that is this issue of kidnapping which is now rearing its head,” Governor Amosun said.

The governor made this remark,on Monday, when the management team of the Ogun State Police Command led by the new Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, paid him a courtesy visit at his Oke Mosan, Abeokuta office.

While addressing the visiting police team, the governor expressed pleasure at receiving the new Commissioner of Police and urged him to work hard just like his predecessor AIG Abdulmajid Ali, who is now in charge of Zone 2.

“If people are saying that we have done well and that our state is secured, it is because of the kind of security that we have enjoyed in Ogun State. I like the synergy and cooperation that exists among the security agencies in the state,” Governor Amosun said.

He added that, “The police is good but they need the right tools to work. Once you give them the necessary support, you will be amazed at how efficient they are,” the governor said.

On his part, CP Iliyasu commended the Ogun State governor for the level of infrastructural and social development that Ogun State has recorded during his tenure so far.

He also pledged that the police under his command in the state will key into the vision and drive of the governor for development and make the state safe for all including foreign investors.

“I like to assure you that we have a zero tolerance for crime and criminality and even since I resumed here, we have dealt decisively with issues such as armed robbery, kidnapping, land grabbing, cultism and a host of others,” CP Iliyasu said.

The new CP also commended Governor Amosun for the support he has always given the police in the state and urged him to continue to do so.

“I want to assure you that we are willing to work and make the state safe and secured,” the CP said.
