The founding National Secretary of the Alliance for Democracy, Udenta Udenta, has warned that the All Progressives Congress is a fragile structure incapable of surviving Nigeria’s political future.
Udenta gave this warning on Tuesday during an interview on ARISE News.
He described the APC as “a structure of darkness” that has weaponised state institutions to entrench its dominance.
“This is a structure of darkness. This is a structure that will collapse on its own,” he declared.
He also accused the Independent National Electoral Commission of becoming an extension of the ruling party’s machinery.
“INEC has become a weapon in the hands of APC, used to legitimise electoral robbery and violence,” he alleged, adding that the judiciary has also been compromised.
Udenta warned that the 2027 general election would be a turning point, particularly if former President Goodluck Jonathan decides to contest.
“That panic is that 2027 will be a day of reckoning. That becomes more acute if Jonathan contests that election,” he said.
He cautioned that only a united opposition could prevent the APC from tightening its grip on power, saying, ‘If PDP and Labour Party do not come together, the APC will destroy this country beyond recognition.”
On governance, he accused the ruling party of deepening Nigeria’s crises:
He stated, “What APC has done is to collapse the economy, collapse security, collapse cohesion and collapse legitimacy.”
According to him, Nigerians are increasingly disillusioned with the government and would decisively reject the APC if credible alternatives emerge.
“This country cannot continue like this. The people are waiting, the people are watching, the people are suffering
“2027 is not just another election. It is the soul of the country that will be contested,” he added.
Udenta has been a known critic of Tinubu’s second-term presidential ambition.
In July, he criticised talks of talks about Tinubu’s potential running mate for the 2027 election as a direct humiliation of Vice President Kashim Shettima.
He also described the fact that APC governors and other key party figures have already endorsed Tinubu for a second term while remaining silent on Shettima’s role signals a deliberate plan within the party.(Punch)
