National Ordinance Day: NOA Bayelsa urges citizens to respect and uphold Nigerians symbols.

The National Orientation Agency on Tuesday urged Nigerians to demonstrate greater respect and commitment to the nation’s symbols as the country marks the 2025 National Ordinance Day.

The State Director NOA Bayelsa Mrs Grace Olobio noted that September 16 marks National Ordinance Day, a day dedicated to appreciating the laws and regulations that shape our society as this occasion recognizes the importance of ordinances in maintaining order and promoting a safe and just community. Citizens are reminded to respect national symbols.

Olobio who spoke on behalf of Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, explained that the symbols include the National Flag, National Identity Card,currency,National Presidential Seal,the Constitution,National Coat of Arms, Anthem and Pledge.

She explained that these symbols represent the nation’s identity and pride, and that it is essential to handle them with dignity and reverence.

Olobio spoke with newsmen in Yenagoa to commemorate the day, and advised that citizens take time to learn about the laws and regulations of the country and understand their significance.

She also thanked the Law Enforcement Officers, and appreciated the men and women who work tirelessly to uphold the law and keep our communities safe.

According to her, respect for our national symbols is respect for Nigeria itself.

Olobio noted that each time we hoist the flag correctly, recite the pledge sincerely, or sing the anthem with pride, we affirm our loyalty and commitment to the ideals of our nation.

The State Director solicited for support from government and private institutions by donating to organizations that promote justice and equality.

“The observance of National Ordinance Day serves as a reminder of the importance of laws and regulations in our daily lives.

“We urge citizens to respect and uphold these laws to promote a safe and orderly society.

“Let’s work together to build a society that values and respects the rule of law.

Happy National Ordinance Day!” she said.
