A notorious gun runner in Barkin Ladi Local Government of Plateau State managed to escape arrest when the troops of 3 Division and Operation Enduring Peace raided his residence.
The troops, however, recovered arms and ammunition in his possession.
In a statement, the Media Officer of the troop, Major Samson Zhakom, said: “In continuation of efforts to clampdown on gunrunners to mop up illicit arms and ammunition, in the early hours of September 15, 2025, troops of 3 Division/Joint Task Force, Operation Enduring Peace (JTF OPEP), raided the hideout of a notorious gunrunner at Kurra Berom Village in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
“The troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, two AK-47 magazines and 38 rounds of 7.62 mm (Special) from the hideout.
“However, the criminals fled from the hideout prior to the operation. Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing criminals.
“Troops of 3 Division/JTF OPEP will continue to maintain aggressive posture and resistance against any form of criminality in the enhancement of national security within the Joint Operations Area.” (The Nation)
