Ward head of Shuwaka community of Kyaram District of Kanam Local Government Area of Plateau state, Malam Hudu Hassan Barau, has been killed by his abductors.

Barr. Garba G. Aliyu and ND Shehu Kanam, Chairman and Secretary of Kanam Development Association, confirmed the abduction and killing of the Ward Head, disclosing that his body was discovered on Monday Morning, six days after his abduction.

Describing the incident as senseless, the community said the deceased’s lifeless body was recovered from the bush around Wanka forest on Monday.

The secretary said, “This heart-wrenching incident is a stark reminder of the persistent insecurity and banditry that has plagued our communities for far too long. Despite our repeated pleas and warnings, the government across all levels has failed to take decisive action to address this menace.

“The people of Garga and surrounding areas are living in constant fear, and it is imperative that our leaders take immediate and concrete steps to ensure their safety and security.

“The government must act now to restore peace and stability to our community. We stand in solidarity with the family of the deceased and the entire community, and we will continue to advocate for their rights and safety. May Allah have mercy on the soul of the Ward Head Shuwaka (Mal. Hudu Hassan Barau),” he said.

Spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Alabo Alfred, has yet to respond to the inquiry regarding the development as of press time. (Daily Trust)
