
Aggrieved residents of Lokoja the capital of Kogi State on Friday stoned the State Governor, Yahaya Bello, as he was leaving a mosque where he observed Jumat prayer, a report from the area said.
The report, by Independent newspaper, said it is not clear why the residents attacked the governor, “but witnesses said the incident occurred at the Lokoja Central Mosque in the old market area of the capital.”
“Police dispersed the crowd with teargas soon afterwards,” the report quoted a source as saying.
It added that this will be the second time in two weeks Governor Bello would be attacked as residents of the state decries the bad living conditions in the state.
