Airstrikes trigger anxiety among Boko Haram fighters in Borno

NAF fighter jets unleash aerial bombardment of terrorists camps

Intelligence reports indicate rising anxiety among fighters of Boko Haram factions following sustained airstrikes on their hideouts in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

It was gathered that the Nigerian Military fighter jets recently bombarded insurgent camps in Gobara and Balangaje, located around Sambisa Forest, destroying several structures.

The strikes reportedly killed three senior Boko Haram commanders identified as Mustafa, Ba Bunu, and Awana Kura, sparking fear among fighters, women and children in the affected enclaves.

A senior Boko Haram commander, Modu Kunduli, was quoted as informing another top commander, Bakura (alias Weeze), that the group’s leadership and fighters were unsettled by the constant Air bombardments.

Bakura, who operates around Kwajaffa–Ngabur village in Hawul LGA, was said to have admitted similar concerns among his fighters following the sighting of NAF jets over Garkida and Gombi areas.

Intelligence further revealed that Boko Haram elements were considering retreating to their hideout in Ngulde, Askira/Uba LGA, pending further directives from their top commander.

Security sources said troops have been placed on heightened alert to monitor possible insurgent movement as the group seeks safer zones to evade aerial bombardment. (Zagazola)
